Listening task

Listening tasks may be used on the oral exam.

If a listening task is used on the exam, it will be quite short, as it must be part of the 30 minutes set aside for the examination.

Listen to the task within the given time, and then retell the content in your own words.

The listening task may also be a jumping-off point for a further conversation about topics related to the text you have listened to.

Example:

Listen to the text and retell the content in your own words.

Further conversation

After you have retold what you heard in the audio recording you could go on to talk about:

  • the history of the United States

  • immigration to the United States

  • race relations in the United States

  • the American Dream

  • the influence of the United States in the world

Listen to the texts and make lists of things you may discuss further.
