Use an online thesaurus (Norw. synonymordbok) in the following tasks to help you learn new adjectives that will make your writing more varied and precise.
Here are two examples of online thesauruses: Macmillan Thesaurus or Thesaurus.com
Replace the word "good" with a different adjective:
- That is a good idea.
- You are a good friend.
- I am feeling good today.
- If you hire me, I will be a good employee.
- Is this a good way to start my speech?
Find the positive, comparative and superlative forms of all five adjectives.
Write them down in a document on your computer. When you are ready to check your answers, switch from a thesaurus to a dictionary and it will show you all three forms.
Try this out!
- Now write down 2-3 sentences of your own using the word "bad" in a Word document. Make sure the language is set to English.
- Right click in the word "bad" and go to "Synonymer". This is a quick way of finding a list of words to help you vary your language. However, make sure that you look up a new word in a dictionary before you use it in a sentence.
