Formal and Informal Language
Test your knowledge of which expressions are suitable for formal and informal situations.
- Discuss the job seekers in the pictures on the right. Are they dressed suitably for an interview? Why/why not?
- In what way do you think appearance and body language may influence the outcome of an interview?
You have been called in for an interview for an apprenticeship in an international company and have to be able to talk about yourself and your skills in English. Work in pairs and prepare your questions and answers and then act out the interview.
Interviewer - suggested questions:
- Describe yourself.
- Why did you decide to apply for this job?
- What are your strong points?
- What are your weak points?
- Why do you think you should get this job? (personal qualities, professional skills)
