This is the repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of words. An example of alliteration can be found in the poem "There Will Come Soft Rains" by Sarah Teasdale:
"And swallows circling with their shimmering sound..."
Assonance
This is the repetition of vowel sounds within a word. An example of assonance can be found in the following poem by Edgar Allen Poe:
"Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary..."
Consonance
This is the repetition of consonant sounds at the end of words. An example of consonance is found in the following poem by Adrian Henry:
“Love is feeling cold in the back of vans
Love is a fanclub with only two fans
Love is walking holding paintstained hands…"
